Gothic 3 Demo

25

As expected, a Gothic 3 demo is now available from FileShack. The 1.03gb download includes "the beginning area of the game, including the towns of Ardea and Cape Dun and the Rebel outpost Reddock, with all available quests, weapons, spells and NPCs".

    This is the biggest game of the year for me. Lets hope I like it. :)

      The game is awesome, just make sure you have a good rig to play it.

        DOH!! My computer is 3 years (almost 4) with a 9800Pro.

        Will this be the game that kills it? (Played Quake4 and BF2142 well enough for me.)

          Considering their track record, expect your system to chug on this game. I expect this game to be full of bugs with lots of performance issues.

            Check out the Gothic 3 forums. They're filled with people complaining about the bugs, the performance issues, the poor combat system, etc.

            Ugh.

              And the people who aren't experiencing bugs? Are they gathered there complaining? A forum full of complainers isn't an accurate way to judge how buggy a game is. Every game has a forum full of complainers.

                Oh, I understand that. But, it's a nice way to get a little insight before you go out and waste $60 on a piece of junk that you'll have to wait a month to really play (not saying G3 is junk, just generalizing).

                If I goto a forum and there are 15 negative threads on the first page, it's going to make me think twice about dropping cash down. Especially if they're just not your run-of-the-mill "lolz this gamz sux" threads, and actual, valid reasons why people are angry or disappointed.

                I read 100 threads on how NWN2 ran like horse shit on many people's machines, but I got it anyway. Well, I have yet to enjoy the game because it runs like horse shit on my machine. If I wasn't so hyped up for the game, maybe I would have waited a bit to see if they patched it. But now, I have a $50 bookend.

            They didn't look bad. They looked better than the 'old games.' I probably didn't have all the bells and whistles, but there wasn't anything that was obviously 'terrible looking'.

            I think BF2142 had framerate issues. No stuttering, but probably low rates. I only played the demo...but it seemed really hard to get a fix on people without them totally trashing me. That could be me running at 20fps, and then running at 60. (Or it could be me totally sucking.)

        My rigs specs are:
        4200+ x2, 2gig dd2, sata2 hd, bfg 7950 512, xi-fatality (basically baught this -->http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10079628&catid=10607 and moded it up for cheap)

        My rig runs the game smooth like butter full settings, 16x af no aa. As far as bugz I am not sure why so many people are complaining? Game play is nice, very much like Oblivion, only side effect is their is small loading stalls as you go through the vast landscapes but it really is not that bad (allot of games have this problem, its like a small chug and not all the time). Hope these details help, but like other people say, download the demo.
