Evening Reading

So after what was apparently hundreds of days I turned my Xbox back on and tried a few of them newfangled games out. The past few months I've been enjoying a few PC games but I figured it was time to diversify or something. NBA Live 07 eats balls but 2K7 isnt bad.

- The Mars aliens are hiding from us
- YouTube will give you up to the feds
- Netflix still hot, so is Amazon
- Russian mafia getting in on stem cell scams
- We need two earths

Lastly, hey girls FireFox 2 has been released!

Seriously, I am loving this thing. It brought my entire profile over perfectly and after about three quick tweaks I made it look exactly like I wanted it to (just like 1.5).

Not to mention it's noticeably faster and it uses far less memory. Word.

I have to say it's pretty sweet. Spellchecking ftw. D: I misspelt spell checking.

I want to like Firefox 2, but the new theme looks terrible on Mac OS X :( It looks like it was plucked straight from the Windows theme with no thought to how Mac applications are supposed to look. The previous theme fit into OSX very well :(

Yeah, previously I always end up back with IE because little things annoy me when they don't work right, but I think this time I will actually stick with it! Seems great now.

Now we just need a Quick Find extension that fixes the new one when just typing text to find something. The new one is dumb, it should work like 1.5. I hate pressing CTRL+F5 to find text :(

I thought it was supposed to open links in new tabs now? Am I missing a new setting? I even checked it in the tabs options under tools.

By this I mean I want it to open a link I click on the Shack into a new tab instead of replacing the current tab, for example.

None of the options in the prefs window let you do that. I don't know if some hidden setting somewhere else does.

I suppose you could always just middle-click everything.

That is what I've been doing for a few years now. really bugs the shit out of me when websites use elements that don't let me do that.

if you haven't done it yet you might want to enable "Use a master password" in the security options.

That way you need to enter a password to use the "Show Passwords..." button. A useful feature, but just a little bit scary :O

If someone ,alicious can sit down at my machine and hit that button, I have a lot more to worry about than them getting my website passwords.

        I'll take the convenience.

          You generally wouldn't.

It's an accessibility feature more than anything else, a way of jumping to a particular link on a page (try starting it with ' instead of /) and then following that link with <enter>. There's historical reasons. The whole thing is retarded but I can't convince the Firefox owner of that :)

I don't understand Quick Find... why would I use this over Ctrl-F?
