DS Leads September Hardware, Madden Leads Software
[ps2] [xbox] [xbox360] [gamecube] [ds] [psp] [gba]Tracking group NPD Funworld has released September sales data for the video game industry. As has become typical, Nintendo DS took the lead in hardware with 403,435 units, nearly a hundred thousand ahead of PlayStation 2, which came in second with 306,517. Xbox 360 was next with 259,448. Game Boy Advance sold 177,145 units, beating out Sony's PSP which picked up 153,353 sales. Finally, GameCube managed 42,286 sales, while Xbox scraped by with 6,495.
In software, EA Tiburon's juggernaut Madden NFL 07 took three slots across PS2, Xbox 360, and Xbox, with the PS2 version taking #1 overall. Volition's Saint's Row (X360), which debuted in the tail end of August, grabbed the #2 slot. Traveller's Tales LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy made the list twice, on PS2 and GameCube. Chun Soft's Pokemon Mystery Dungeon grabbed #4 and #5, in its Blue Rescue Team version on DS and Red Rescue Team version on GBA, respectively. Q-Games and Nintendo's Star Fox Command (NDS) perhaps surprisingly debuted in the top 10, taking #9, and finally Nintendo's New Super Mario Bros. (NDS) managed to keep hanging on to a spot on the list with the last slot.
