AMD on 1GHz

1

Well we all know Intel is having shall we say a tad bit of problems getting out any CPUs that are even 800mhz lately, and they are of course planning on showing off the 1GHz P3 CPU in 2 weeks. JC's PCNews got a quote from an 'undisclosed' AMD rep on how AMD is reacting to all this: (Thanks Zaknafein)

"Fab 25 could ship 1 GHZ parts at any time the marketing department wants to introduce them (note, these are not Cu, but Al interconnects!). Currently there is no incentive for AMD to do this because Intel is falling all over themselves trying (and failing) to meet 800 MHZ demand".

hehe, i think everyone kinda figured that. it\'s a bummer that AMD is hanging on to those 1ghz CPUs and stringing it out, but i cant really blame them. it\'s a business decision. the market would get all kinds of fucked up and they would screw themselves if they released it now.

it sucks that they wont have dual boards until the 3rd quarter.. bah!
