The fact that they’re being so secretive about what the ads will look like or if they’ll have sound or not raises a red flag or two or three, ignore it and the issue will go away eh DICE?

I'm not buying it because they are having ads :)

Care to elaborate on those other problems? I'm curious to know what people think of it so far...

endless amount of bugs right now. lag, people who can't stay connected at all, a lot of people CTDing... and gameplay bugs everywhere, your vehicle takes massive damage driving over bumps, standing on the titan in many places the entire ship becomes invisible, theres a bug where the teams can cheat and respawn their own titan if it's close to death. it's catching so much flak right now from the testers I kinda feel bad for Dice. but it IS A BETA, and no conclusions should be drawn yet

Well, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt because it is indeed a beta. The test will be whether they actually fix these issues. If they don't then it'll have all been worthless. I've played it for a while and it's been generally fine. The number of updates in the second release of the beta from the first has been rather significant both in gameplay and interface enhancements. It shows they're definitely not just sitting around doing nothing.

I don't understand why they are having these issues... i thought BF2142 would simply be BF2 in the future. Same engine, different content more or less... so bizarre.

Look at the number of problems that the current 1.3 BF2 has and it's not surprising that even making small changes to that for BF2142 could cause some serious issues.

I believe I said the same thing when bf:nam came out. And as we can all recall, that game had more bugs than my basement (which is alot).

Um, the game is in beta. The forums should be nothing but complaints and bug reports. That's the entire purpose of beta testers. They are supposed to report what sucks, not just show up for a smooth gaming experience.

If the game ships with this shit, I'll throw the game out of my disk drive so fast. But for the time being, benefit of the doubt.

I agree that they've been fixing it quite nicely. I've only heard of a few bugs and see very little of any of the ones mentioned here. I think it's shaping up pretty well for being a beta. No worries, imho. Looks like it'll be a fun upgrade from BF2.

Ahhh! So that's what happened on a server I was playing on last night. Confused the crap out of me that Titan respawning thing.

Yep it's very very buggy. Bit's of the HUD keep disappearing for me, the menu's all corrupt, lags and crashes a lot. The server browser filters don't work. It's a Dice classic! They'll do the usual release now partially patch in 6 months time if you're lucky. It will never be fixed completely though, that's just not their style.

Also the movement is still horribly jerky and unresponsive a lot of the time. The engine is just horrible.

I must be one of the lucky ones, aside from occasional lag spikes this game runs with no problems. Occasionally I find myself running into a wall after turning away from it, but that's just prediciton code I guess that needs to be worked on with the lag.

What concerns me is that we keep hearing "but its shipping at such and such a date..." and with these issues I still have a feeling that its not going to get the attention it deserves because they (EA) have decided that come hell or high water its shipping when they've said. Period.

I can deal with the ads just so long as the reporting software doesn't continue when the game shuts down, and doesn't interrupt gameplay. Shit like billboards and storefronts....meh, who cares....

I won't mind the ads if they can be blown up in the game. So if I see a billboard I don't like, I can blow it up with a rocket, I'd be OK with that. What would be even cooler is if the server would register that displeasure and tell the advertiser that everyone hates their ads, so they'd stop advertising!

        Wont happen.

Every other game with adverts in has them untouchable. So bullet holes, explosion marks etc wont appear anywhere on them. Looks completely out of place seeing a pristine billboard in the middle of a messy bombed out area.

But hey, why would EA care what they look like. Its moneyhats!

one thing that kind of annoyed me is you still can't blow up anything. they have more houses, walls, and junk IN YOUR WAY then ever and your tank will be hopelessly blocked by it all rather than just blowing shit up. :(

You know, in the trailers i've seen for QW:ET ... the environment seems much more "destructible".

I'd say ET:QW will hardly do anything out of the ordinary. The only destructible stuff I remember seeing is the bridges (as always) and the one building that you have to bomb on the final objective of the Valley map. So it'll probably still follow RTCW/ET's destructible script.

                What :(

I'm already an ET:QW supporter, man. Eagerly awaiting for it. But I know terrain/prop destruction is not one of the features they're pushing for the game, so I have no reason to believe it'll be anything diferent from the previous iterations of the "series".
