Same boat here... since I've waited this long to get one, I'd be pretty dumb to not wait a little longer.

Is there more room in that boat, cause Im right there with your guys. I actually pre-ordered a Lite, and cant wait until it gets here next month.

Agh me too. I've got my Lite pre-ordered for June and my copy of NSMB should arrive in a couple days. It was on sale.

Note that you can save anytime once you've beaten the game.

Really? How does the save system work on the first run through?

        • reply
          May 16, 2006 6:10 PM

You can save after the boss battles, or close the lid to hibernate. A full charge on the DS is supposed to last a week in hibernation.

Yeah, I closed the lid on my DS after playing Sodoku on Brain Age and forgot it for 2 days and opened it to find it still kicking.

Is there a two player mode? So that me and a friend can both have our DS's loaded with NSMB and play a two player game just like the original Super Mario on an NES?

man there is just no innovation in the super mario bros genre

      • reply
        May 16, 2006 8:20 PM

some franchises are so fond that innovation is unnecessary. Mario Bros. is probably the best example of that I can think of.

Bought a DS today just to play this game. I am not disappointed. So much depth in such simple design... Nintendo truly got it right the first time.

All you old-time DS owners... what games should I get after this? Looking at Animal Crossing... the internet stuff interests me.

The library of good games is pretty big now on the DS. I would recommend Meteos, Mario Kart, and Metroid Hunters.

Pick up Brain Age for $20 and I like Kirby Canvas Curse. You use only the stylus to play which is very well done.

I still suck at SMB as much as I ever did :(

I'm terrible at timing jumps and I can never get used to Mario's physics :( The downside to being raised on Sonic games instead of Mario ones... I'm super awesome at piloting Sonic around though :(

It's still a damn kickass game though :D Can't wait to try the vs mode against some NYC Shackers! :O

If you're a fan of SMB, SMB3, and SMW then you should definately pick this up. I'm not far enough in to say that it's the best of the bunch but it's definately on par with the rest. The new moves and powerups are fun but it's still classic 2D platforming that Nintendo does best.

Your loss. I can understand yet another FPS game being overhyped, but 2d mario is one of those things that people have never overhyped.
