Man this game looks hot.
But one thing I don't get is them bagging on the story of Far Cry. Okay, so it's not as complex as say... Ghost in the Shell, with metaphysical questions about the nature of humanity and the division between man and machine or political intrigue, but seriously, what game is that complex? Besides games like Metal Gear Solid with stories so complex that no one really gets them.
Far Cry: Mercenaries on island kidnap your meal ticket so you go rescue her and discover a mad scientist making monsters. Shoot them.
Vs.
Doom: Monsters invade through man made portals. Shoot them.
Quake 1: Monsters invade through man made portals. Shoot them.
Half-Life: Monsters invade through man made portals. Shoot them. Oh, and there's a guy with a briefcase that might have had something to do with it.
Half-Life 2: Monsters have already invaded. Shoot them.
Seems to me that Far Cry's story is about on par with other shooters.
And apparently the plot of Crysis is 'Aliens come to Earth. Shoot them.'-
That's as good a plot as any FPS needs to have if you ask me. But I agree that bragging about your so-called deep story when it is basically what you described about and all the tiny detail fit on a standard sheet of paper; not only is that misleading and stupid but that's also ridiculous.
I don't mind if a FPS has no story, hell, I don't mind if mosts games have no story but please guys don't pretend there's one, you'll only look like assholes. -

I thought far cry's story was decent too. for a videogame of course. I don't know why a lot of people here bust out the hatorade on that game but I really get the sense they didn't get into for some reason then just slugged through without enjoying it. it's a REALLY nuanced game that I think many people missed the boat on, but on the other hand a shitload of people get it too and are now crytek fans.
