    I saw EQ2 at Fry's for a mere 10 bucks.

Is that a pretty good gauge to measure the quality level of the game?

No, I think the game was very nice, but it felt rather empty and no matter where you went it felt like something was missing.

I'd reccomend you try to Trial Version and see if you like it. WoW however is light years ahead of it.

Fry's has it for $10 because there are already 2 expansions out for it. The new expansion, kingdom of Sky costs $29 and comes bundled with EQ2 already. You can pick up the first expansion for around $20. Companies lower the price so new customers aren't forced to pay full retail for the game and each expansion. If they did EQ2 would run you around $110 right now instead of $50.

As far as EQ2 vs WoW, it depends on what you want out of an MMO. EQ has much more visual detail, but WoW is easier to get in to. If you are in to magic and such, EQ2 might be better because of the sheer number of spells for casters when compared to WoW. You won't wait 30 minutes to get into the game with EQ2 because the login servers are choked on friday and saturday nights either.
