Auto Asault GONE GOLD
NCSoft sent out a press release announcing that NetDevil's Auto Assault has gone gold, and is off to manufacturing. The post-apocalyptic vehicular MMORPG will be in North American and European stores April 13. The game will cost $49.99, and requires a monthly $14.99 subscription.
In Auto Assault, players can choose to be a Human, Mutant or Biomek character and set out in a post apocalyptic land in personalized combat vehicles, fighting for the few resources left on a shattered Earth. Combat is extremely fast-paced and challenges abound as players blast through buildings, set fire to forests, and level entire settlements. Player avatars may own many different vehicles, specialize in several crafting disciplines to create truly unique items, and participate in player-versus-player battles both in arena combat and in contested outpost areas

Next time they have a free weekend, or a buddy code, I'll give it another try.
I did the beta weekend, and it was sort of fun, but didnt feel like it had a 'soul'... seemed fairly flat and without much depth. (note, I may be jaded by WoW).-

i was in the beta, and i have some positive remarks on it, but also negative ones!!
first, it's a fun game. It is! If you like driving and shoot stuff, you might like it. At first, the game seemed weird with all the mechanics and stuff, but once you get the hang of it, it's fun!
During beta, they kept changing stuff so at some point i didn't enjoy the changes and everything started to look slow, bleh
as for the negative aspects, i won't go into much detail but i'll just point one that drew my attention from the beggining: social interaction.
During my experience, i haven't talked with anyone, i haven't made a friend, nothing. During the extended weekend testing, I didn't spoke with ANYONE.
Now, if it's for soloing, sure, go ahead. But I do miss talking with anyone once in a while, and all they offer is some chat thing that kinda intimidates me to use it.
The whole interface just doesn't offer you much interaction with other players because you're just running around doing missions at 130mph.
Maybe there weren't enough players at the given time because it was beta and stuff, but this is my experience. I wasn't able to connect with anyone.
To sum it, it looked, and felt, like chatting through mIRC with the user-list hidden. bleh-
I grouped up a few times for fun in convoys but the shaman missions were bugged to hell and not many were playing BioMek when I switched so there was even less interaction.
I don't really like the crafting system too much but it's kinda fun to play. Nothing is more fun that speeding through a mob of soldiers and splattering them all getting multikill bonuses to the exp!
