Splinter Cell: Double Agent Delayed
As part of their third quarter revenue report, Ubisoft today announced that Splinter Cell: Double Agent has been delayed. Originally scheduled for a spring release, the game has been pushed back until September.
The rescheduling to September 2006 of the launch of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent is meant to release the title on all platforms simultaneously, including the Microsoft Xbox 360 that should have a much larger installed base by that time. This will also enable to maintain the highest quality for which Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell is recognized. This rescheduling will ensure the best return from the coming release as well as from future sequels of this brand over time.

I wonder if this is a result of the "meh" reaction to the game's previews? I'm a fan of the series and I think the new one looks pretty uninteresting.

Yes, but since his daughter dies, which of course has an impact on Sam, you can take the game either way.
You can basically play it Light Side, which is more difficult, or go all out Dark Side... and shoot that tied up cop in the face, which will make the game easier since you get more trust from those you were supposed to infiltrate and easier access to whatever secret you need to uncover.
I'll translate an article about it later tonight, if I find the time.-

Here's a little spoilerish snippet from the preview that can be found in the Gamestar 2/06
At first Julian Getrighty, producer of Splinter Cell 4, explains the broad story. Sams daughter, Sahra, dies. Just like that, not because of some demons from the past. The former hero is only a shell of what he used to be, having lost all focus and his meaning in life. He simply doesn't care anymore.
The ideal premise for a job as undercover agent is what his employer, the NSA, thinks. Somebody who doesn't care about life wont have problems doing some dirty deeds for terrorist groups as long as it's for a good cause. This is how Sam becomes a NOC, a non-official cover-agent.
