Evening Reading

So everyone give up on your new years resolutions yet? Seriously the best motivation I know of for getting something done is seeing a different number on a calendar. Works every time. Do it!

- XM streaming video O_o
- MS lovin the virus fun
- Some fuss over the Macworld announcements
- HPVs are hot

Lastly, CES is coming! Sure looks like we're going to have some pretty fun announcements this year. Hopefully Chris doesnt gamble away his laptop again.

Oh yeah stay away from mods for a while. Once you know how everything works, then you can add some stuff. First time I tried Insomniax I had no idea what 75% of that stuff was.

Heck, I think getting into them asap is pretty handy, only because it gets you used to them. And you can get an idea for what you like and don't like.

Titan Mod and it's misc plugins can be pretty handy.
Also a questing mod of some sort. Monkeyquest, et al.

I don't know. Every time stuff breaks I end up with a different configuration. I started out with the insomniax pack adn then had a couple of stand-alone things. I think I am going to go at it again and make my own compilation. Main things I miss from the insomniax pack I started with a logn time ago was

        Atlas (maps of the instances)

The font change (no idea which font is used but I liked it more than the default)

status bars. I leave them on all the time. I like seeing all my energy/mana plus rage and combo points (druid here)

titan panel. i like being able to look at the top of the screen and seeing my XP/hr, my gold, and how many available slots i have in my bags.

I used to have something that would automatically center the mouse on loot and close the loot window if there was nothing to be looted. Does anyone know what this is?

I always forget something. Right now I have nurfed, titan panel, monkey quest, status bars, and some sefl cast thing.

        Recommendations welcomed.

LootCursor (I think) centers the loot over the mouse when you pick it up. Be sure to use Shift + Left Mouse Click just long enough for your character to crouch and then start moving again; you will automagically loot everything. Combine this with LootFilter and you can grind like a motherfucker without picking through craploads of Wild Hog Shanks and Fish Scales looking for the good stuff.

Also check out HarassMeNot for about 500 ways to block people from spamming you with duels, chats, trade requests, rolls, the list goes on. AlarmSystem or some variant will send a chat to LocalDefense with any information it has from targetting your attacker or mousing over (as well as the rest of the attacker's party, as much as possible), which can be customized on attack/death. (PvP servers)

        Barebones:
        EquipCompare
        Scrolling Combat Text
        cMapCoordinates
        Some form of cooldown timers

        Optional:
        CTMod: Player Frames

        Level 60 necessities:
        CT Raid Assist
        Decursive
        Class-specific mods and macros

Incomplete and I haven't played in a while, that's what I remember. With action bars you don't need fancy BibToolBars and such unless you're a customization freak and have extra memory to spare.

          What good is CTmod?

What is Decursive? Some people were talkign abouty it in guild chat.

Is Action Bars the default extra bars that blizzard added?

CTMod allows you customize arguably useful things such as seeing numbers and percentages of health on you, mobs, and opposing faction. For example, you can see the amount of mana an opposing faction caster has and guess their level from their class. You can also customize buff positions on screen (if you're not familiar with the icons for them you can see their names, for example), mana regen/tick (useful for spi casters and boss fights in 40mans), etc.

Decursive allows you to spam one button to cleanse people with a customizable list of who gets cleansed first, i.e. main tank and healers. Makes the nightmare of targetting a non-issue.

Action Bars are the default ones added by Blizzard (BottomLeft, BottomRight, Right), making for a total of four. The main bar has six different bars that can be scrolled through so they can be customized for different purposes such as world PvP, PvE, different druid forms.

They hold your saved settings. Some mods (auctioneer, mobhealth) can store a ton of data there. Yeah, it'll also forget the settings you have for the game (resolution, interface) but that takes like 10 seconds to set up again.
