Ryzom Ring Q&A
There's a Ryzom Ring Q&A on working-title, asking Nevrax producer Jessica Mulligan about this Saga of Ryzom expansion pack. Questions are mostly about the company and the original game, though the actual expansion is touched upon too.

I played ryzom for about two months. The community was pretty amazing; friendly, helpful, generous. But, ryzom has the worst case of "The Grind" I have ever encountered. In two months of playing, the furthest I ever got from the gates of the starting city was about a ten minute walk. I killed and killed and killed some more but it takes so damn long to level that the game became a complete bore to me because I couldn't explore while I leveled. login, walk out city gate, kill everything in sight, wander a bit too far, die, respawn. Wash, rinse repeat. Boring.
Their ideas for the expansion are pretty interesting though. Player made content in an mmo will probably run the gamut from incredible to amazingly awful. The biggest strength of ryzom is that it feels like a living world and this idea seems to expand upon that. Maybe I'll give it a shot again in the future.-
I found Ryzom to be highly appealing simply because it is pseudo sci-fi, and largely set in a unique and strange world. Unfortunately, the gameplay (at the time) didn't hold up. I wasn't aware they'd managed to hold on to a subscriber base to stay in business. If the expansion comes out and they have some free trial or something (needs more marketing, I'd forgotten about the game), I'll probably check it out again
Sometimes you get a little tired of orcs and wizards, ya know?
