Guild Wars Update Notes

11

The Guild Wars website has been updated with an update forecast, mentioning that the free Sorrow's Furnace update is coming this week (the 7th), which will include a number of economic and balance changes. With these changes "Many things will become significantly easier to acquire, including skill points and skills. But the gold cost of learning a skill from a trainer will be somewhat more expensive for most players" so it is suggested you invest unspent Skill Points prior to the upgrade.

they just mean to save you the annoyance of losing out on your hard-earned cheap skill points.

It's actually quite courteous of them to mention it. I'm not sure I can recall a time when a developer tipped off the players to exploit cheap stuff before they raised prices.

I dunno either. :( their explanation makes no fucking sense... to make pure guesswork out of it I guess there will be more skills and points available from the mini quests, but they will cost way more to buy from a trader.

they just mean that buying skills from trainers will be more costly after this update, so you should spend them now if you want to get cheap skills.

I get that part but the contradiction is that they say skills and points will also be easier to acquire. so wtf, that leaves me guessing whether I should just wait for the new "easier acquisition" or whether I should spend skill points now as it won't be enough to offset the coming higher prices

They mean the points you use to acquire new abilities/spells, not the points you put in to attributes ("Strength", "Curses", etc.), or the points that get spent when you rearrange the points in your attributes.
