        Actually, my preference would be for a once-daily chatty. I think the discussion threads would carry in a much more natural manner and it would therefor be beneficial to the community.

      I reckon Steve and Maarten have a secret tracker for which of their posts gets the most comments. Recently FP has been outdoing ER by about 2:1 on a regular basis, so maybe Maarten is letting Steve catch up by skipping one?
