New Battlefield 2 Patch Being Tested

According to a new community update on the official Battlefield 2 website, an updated 1.01 patch for the game is currently being tested. Though no specific release date is commited to, "it's not far off".

      well the site says it's a hotfix for 1.01, so.... yes.

      It's just a server fix, fixes the memory leak, so there's no client side patch needed afaik other than the standard 1.01 patch. But from what I've read, servers will have to completely reinstall.

      Probably not. You have to install this upcoming hotfix after the 1.02 patch that will be released in around a month. Then you have to reinstall BF2 back to 0.98, then hotfix without the patch, then install the 1.02 and 1.01 patches in reverse order, then edit your registry to make sure it knows where's it installed. Then install Battlefield 2 again on top of it all. Then you just rename the .ini file, make sure your battlefield installation is running from the default "C:\EA Games\Battlefield 2" directory, install the new beta drivers for your video card, install directx 9.0d, run windows in safe mode, and you're good to go.
