The guys in the first screenshot looked a bit too shiny for my tastes, but damn if that second shot with the smoke isn't the hotness!

  yeah that first shot just screams "HEY LOOK AT THIS NEETO STUFF I CAN DO"

  Is that real volumetric shit, though? It almost looks like they're running into a matte painting with some fog in front of it.

    no, its just very clean, well textured sprites. like the bullet impacts in hl2/cs, they're just making the art correctly.

  actually, i think thats a beach scene, so the highlights r supposed to show they are wet(they did have to limp thru the water)
