The Fanboy's Ten Commandments
In his last GameSpotting piece, GameSpot's Adam Buchen wrote an open letter to fanboys that explicitly detailed the laws that should govern their behavior; you know, just in case they ever forget. His information is an invaluable resource, so for you wannabe fanboys out there (we know who you are!), this is mandatory reading!
I have a few pieces of advice I want to pass onto you in this GameSpotting. I know that in an age of multiple platforms and a huge amount of games, it can be difficult to remain loyal to one platform or one company. It's a real challenge, and you are all noble and courageous for taking on this quest. I have a few pieces of advice that I hope you all take to heart. It will help guide you down the path of the fanboy. ... Innovation is what it's called when your console has a unique feature. Otherwise, it's called a gimmick. ... Your platform is the best one in existence. Any time you see what might be evidence to the contrary, it's clearly because others are blinded by their idiotic fanboyism. He speaks the truth. Oh, also, if you're a fanboy, be careful: either grandpa will take off his belt and/or God will smite you.

I read another article, also part of gamespotting, that berrates "hardcore" gamers, who are apparently waging a war against "casual" gamers, as the author calls himself.
Not only is his argument a bad one, (if you write for a gaming magazine and play more then 3 hours a week, own more then one console, have been playing since you were a child, you are not really a casual gamer, and then there's all kinds of other logical fallacies, but whatever) however, it's one that he should not be making in the first place: basically, he is attacking those who engage in scenesterism, platform whoring (Sony vs X-Box vs Gamecube vs PC), and general elitism, like those who hate Madden and Halo because its popular.
Ok, right, fair enough, those people are faggots but here's the thing: That's the sort of behavior you'd see on Gamespot's boards, and IGN's. That shit is not tolerated on the Shack, and other strong online gaming communities. And that's where you'll find genuine enthusiasm towards the medium (ie a "hardcore" attitude), something that you can't really be if you're a 15 year old who makes bad posts on a shitty messageboard. So really what these guys seem to be doing is... trolling their own community boards? It's like they were just so exhasparated with their own bad community that they decided to take their last oppertunity to write a gamespotting by shitting all over the column. I suppose I can't blame them, but it seems a little immature and unprofessional...-

I agree there. I used to have an IGN account 5 years ago. Needless to say I cancelled it VERY fast because of all the e-tards.
I think Shack will deserve my money for how well they handle the community... even though they do have a habbit of letting certain pro-Xbox comments go more often than not, but its easily handled because it is NOT nearly as bad as Gamespot/IGN hype sites.

Oh, yes there are, but here no one's really interested in having those sorts of conversations and generally those people like that are ignored by the core group of posters and community members. In other words, people have irrational love for brands and franchises, but they don't troll about it and don't take themselves seriously.
And you would most certainly not get away with the GameSpot posting style here, and even less so on other boards like Planetcrap and the SA Games forum.-
True we do have rampant fanboyism here for some things, but the people here that are fanboys are much better at putting their thoughts and ideas down on paper (post). They are able to convey their opinions and the reasons why they enjoy it much better here than other communites.
For one that's because we don't really tolerate having someone post OMG LOL, XBOX SUCKS!!!111!
