Late Night Consoling

32
Last night, I watched perhaps one of the most outrageous pieces of videogame-related television programming. It was G4's Video Game Vixens. It's an entire show based on trying to find the "hottest, sexiest and most lethal videogame babes." Three "judges" watch video of these vixens and comment on them, most often remarking on the bounciness of their breasts. They then vote on which of the five characters best represent the category's title; a couple were Biggest Guns and Best Bounce (yes, it's exactly what you're thinking). At the end of the show, the host asked the judges who they felt had the best chance to win the top spot. One of the judges, a washout from an MTV reality show, had a couple memorable lines. "I'd go all the way with any of them!" and, referring to Dead or Alive's Kasumi, "I've been pulling for her. All day. Starting in the shower." G4, I know it's been tough for you to find quality programming, especially after you axed most of it during the merger, but c'mon, you can do better. The sad part of this whole thing may be that this show is actually doing well ratings-wise. =(
  • PSP Production Being Reduced?

    [psp]

It appears Sony is scaling back its production of its PlayStation Portable system by a full 33 percent. Sony had told its manufacturing companies to expect to build 18 million units but has since reduced that number down to 12 million. Sony hasn't stated specifically why such a reduction has taken place. Speculation points to either a chip shortage or less-than-anticipated demand for the system.

  • PS3 Dev Kit Revealed

    [ps2]

TeamXbox, of all places, has pictures of the PlayStation 3 dev kit that's being shipped out to various trusted developers. As you can see in the pic, it's a very nondescript box but its size is quite the surprise. Inside is a 2.4GHz processor and nVidia's RSX GPU, which is also pictured.

  • 100,000 UMD Movies Sold

    [psp]

Sony announced that sales of UMD-based movies have surpassed over 100,000 units sold. That's a rather impressive amount considering how most thought they wouldn't sell as well priced the same as a standard DVD. Sales have nowhere to go but up as starting this week, we're going to be seeing a huge surge in the amount of titles released. Check out this complete list over at GamesAreFun.

  • More Content for Wipeout Pure

    [psp]

Another round of downloadable content for Wipeout Pure was made available today. Dubbed "Gamma Pack 2," the goodies consisted of two new tracks, the Extostra Run and Ubermall, as well as two skins, the Qirex and Auricom. Also, Gamma Pack 1 is being re-released and it's recommended to redownload that. Get it now! (Edit: It was supposed to come out today but it doesn't appear it happened. Keep on tryin'!)

Time Crisis for the PSOne. "Although it lacked the nice recoiling gun and the peddle from the arcade it was damn near pefect in every other way. Being able to play it at home made me as happy as SF2 on the snes and similarly saved much of my pocket money at the time." (submitted by e1ghtball).
