Not Good Enough: SAG Doesn't Approve Deal
A strike by video game voice actors may of been avoided, but this story isn't over with just yet! The formal approval session by the Screen Actors Guild's national executive committee didn't go as planned and they rejected the deal. According to the Hollywood Reporter, this marks the first time in the union's 72-year history that the board didn't approve a recommendation from a negotiating committee.
"The bargaining committee and staff of Screen Actors Guild worked extremely hard over the course of many months to negotiate fairer terms and conditions for the actors who do this work," SAG national executive director Greg Hessinger said. "While the tentative agreement they reached included several key gains, the guild's national executive committee has made the final determination that this proposal was not enough. We will now explore our options."AFTRA, however, did approve of the deal and many actors belong to both unions, so this won't be damaging to either the game companies or the voice actors; just those that belong solely to SAG. I think this dramabomb has gone on long enough; listen to the majority of your union members and sign the papers, SAG.
