CPL Q&A
New at GameCloud this morning is a Q&A with Angel Munoz, head of the Cyberathlete Professional League. There are questions about the CPL's World Tour, games used at the events, and competition from other pro gaming leagues.

That’s exactly how I feel. Watching the demos of the Q3 games used to be genuinely exciting and it really looked like professional gaming was set up to become a growing sport, but after Q3 died it lost all its appeal.
It’s impossible to spectate a team game and have a good understanding of everything that’s going on. The only games that work are 1v1 but the only game that has provided any hope for a good duel is Painkiller. Unfortunately that was dumbed down and not that good. I completely lost interest in the world tour when I found out it was on Painkiller and I can’t really imagine that many other people being interested in it.
I really can’t wait for Q4 for the online duel scene to take off again and hopefully they’ll get the demo size down from the laughable D3 demo size so it’ll be feasible to download them. After all, there’s not much potential in the CPL if nobody can watch the games.
Give us Q4Test! I hate all this "when it's done" crap. Can't they say "we aim to have the game out by Q4 2005 but this is only an estimate and may be subject to delays." -
cK reprasent! Seriously, since q3 died down I haven't been at a CPL or a frag even at all. Hell I even went less than I did with cK in Q1.
Nothing is more fun than a 4v4 team deathmatch or a 1v1 tournament. I desperatly miss that.
I've been in contact with some of the guys from DR and cK in hopes of possibly re-getting into the CPL for Quake4. Hopefully it'll regenerate the golden era of multiplayer competitive gaming, but from the screenshots it looks just like D3 :(
