Sunday Afternoon ShackReviews

It's a bird, it's a plane, no! It's the ShackReviews database update! Okay, that was lame, but IT'S STAYING! DEAL! In any case, it's port week as quite a few games are released on other platforms. PC gamers finally get Area 51 and San Andreas whereas console adventure gamers finally get a new world to explore. And hey! If you like completely weird games, Samurai Western would be right up your alley. As always, if there's a game you want in the database, see if it's already there and if not, request it!
Featured ShackReviews:

Like every single one of you, I spent most of Friday refreshing various websites trying to get a fix on a solid release date and time for the Battlefield 2 demo. Just as I was tying my shoes to go take care of some errands, the Internet was alerted that the release was imminent. When it was finally installed, I couldn't contain myself. Then... the errors. Oh god, this driver update totally wrecked everything! I spent six hours that day trying to troubleshoot my system and learned that my problem is widespread and basically unsolvable. Still, I was able to play with the last stable release, the 66.93, and after a dozen tweaks, everything is stable. Once I was able to play this game, I learned I rock at it and my CS:S sniping skills transfer over very nicely. Guess I'll get this one after all!

The sniper rifle actauly works for you? I zoom it put the crosshair right on their body or head shoot and no hit. Even when they are standing still, nothing. Sniper sucks.

Well, for me, sniping is only worthwhile as USMC. When MEC, I can't hit shit, but I think that's because I don't understand the crosshair.

Even if the target isn't moving, i only hit them with less than half of my shots. Sprinting targets are next to impossible, and moving targets pretty hard. You just have to shoot more, from good angles. At least 3 shots with the US rifle and 5 with the USMC one for a kill. That said, sniping works pretty well for me, and it doesn't feel cheesy in any way like an AWP kill in CS does.

I think the M24 SWS takes about 2 shots to down someone with at full health unless you hit their melon sized cranium (this is based on me shooting several guys standing still). Still, your right- the feedback for where the bullets going is horrible. Am I supposed to lead? Do I have to aim upwards at distance? -cause I can tell you, i've shot at one guy who was standing around 600+ meters away until my magazine emptied and I didn't hit the guy for shit. Its almost like past a certain distance the bullet just disintegrates in midair. around 200 meters its not a problem, you just point+click like any other stupid game. Just takes another shot, is all.

My guess is that instead of going through the trouble to put in proper ballistics for the bullet dice just put a cap on the distance you can shoot from. While this is a effective way of preventing every sob on the map from selecting the sniper class, its a halfhazerd solution.
