Sunday Afternoon ShackReviews

7
Good afternoon, how about a fresh update to ShackReviews database? I dipped into the submissions this week and plucked out a PC classic in Strife. To be honest, I've never heard of this one before but when Steve mentioned it in ER the other night, a ton of you rose up to defend its honor. Sadly, it looks like the developer and publisher have since gone kaput. As always, if there's a game you want in the database, see if it's already there and if not, request it!

  • Wixard00, a self-proclaimed MMO vet, finds that Guild Wars (PC) shakes up the MMORPG market and creates a genre of its own.

At some point earlier this week, I wrapped up Star Wars Republic Commando for the PC. Good stuff, especially if you're a Star Wars fan. It actually had surprisingly excellent voice acting and dialogue; there were a few laugh-out-loud moments. My biggest gripe, however, was the ending. When the credits roll, a rock/metal song plays over them which didn't fit in at all with the rest of the game and really destroyed the emotional impact of the ending. Now, I'm debating whether to tackle Jedi Academy or KOTOR2 next. I actually bought KOTOR2 at its release, but was so disappointed after five hours of playing it, I traded it in. Maybe now I'll enjoy it a bit more while I'm still gaga over Star Wars.
