Late Night Consoling

36
My hat is off to this guy. He's compiled a huge list of the "clones" for the Famicom (NES for us Westerners). These are basically cheap imitation ripoffs of the original console that either play original games, illegal bootlegs, or other crap no company would ever publish. For instance, check out the PolyStation. Looks almost just like the original PlayStation! Lift the lid and there's a slot to insert the cartridge. WTF do you do with all those extra buttons? I just can't believe that there are at least 316 varients. He also has a section for clones of other systems; check out this Game Gear wannabe that plays Atari 2600 games. Oh, one last thing. Killer 7 scored a 36/40 with Famitsu. Looks like the wait will be worth it!
  • More Monster Hunter on the Way

    [ps2] [psp]

Capcom is prepared to announce a sequel to Monster Hunter later this week. With a PSP version already announced, the console sequel is said to be so different from the original, importation of stats will not be possible. New features include a time clock cycle, new weapons and environments, and a better connection with other players in the online world. PSP connectivity will be included as well.

  • Ghost in the Shell Invading PSP

    [psp]

With a console version already in the works, Bandai announced that Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex will find its way onto the PSP sometime this summer. Said Rika Maruya, Co-Producer of Bandai Games Inc, "We naturally wanted to take advantage of the wireless capabilities of the PSP to truly immerse gamers into an edgy, futuristic world of hackers and cybernetic entities."

  • Xbox 360 Hooked on Fonix

    [xbox]

First, I apologize for the headline. Second, Fonix Speech announced that they have teamed up with Microsoft to make their speech recognition technology part of the Xbox 360 development kit. The same tech has been used in all the Tom Clancy games and a few other military sims such as Delta Force and SWAT. With Fonix part of the development kit, it makes it easier for developers to add voice recognition into their games.

  • Porno on Your PSP

    [psp]

A dream come true for adolescents everywhere, Sony is officially approving sales of pornographic UMDs in Japan. Japanese pornography studio GLAY'z will be releasing five titles that will be explicit in content. Sadly, UMD movies are region coded, but IGN has heard rumors that these releases won't have the restriction. American porn may not be far behind as Playboy is already formatting pictures for use on the system.

I can't believe that the porn would fly here. "Endangerment to minors" and such, no? It's not like you can carry around a portable DVD player with porn playing. That would be awesome.

But I guess by the same principle people wouldn't do that.

But what's the point? If you can only use it in privacy.. I guess if you're in a hotel and don't have a laptop or something. :[

What's the point indeed, especially when everyone had porn on their PSP within 34 seconds of plugging in the USB cable.

hah, In Japan I can see it being big. That sort of thing already happens on their transit system. Walking on and seeing an old lady reading Manga Porn isn't uncommon.

I can't really seeing it being to hot in America though...except for in school. Boring English lecture? *wips out PSP* Not anymore!

It's porn, and porn sells. It's probably the best way to get the UMD movies to drop in price faster.

I'm pretty sure the majority of PSP owners are over 18 and male. Just because it's a game system doesn't mean 5 year olds are playing it, they have their much cheaper gameboys. :o
