Late Night Consoling

I'm beginning to wonder how much longer Ken Kutaragi can keep making the comments he makes until he realizes what he's saying. With the PS2, the hype of living room convergence and graphics that could display true human emotion fell totally flat. They were embarrassed at the following E3 when Sega displayed tech demos running on the Dreamcast that showed more human facial emotion than anything gamers were shown regarding the PS2. Then with the PSP, the heated defense of the faulty square button and the claim that it was the "most beautiful thing ever created" had him appearing as a frothing fanboy (which he is, I guess). And unless Sony is holding back some revolutionary features and specifications, the PS3 is 100% game machine and I'd be surprised if someone bought the thing and not play games on it. Not sure why Sony is trying to walk down this path; do they fear Microsoft's Xbox 360 and its fully-revealed Live functionality? Do they believe surviving on a games-only platform is no longer viable? They're hands-down the market leader, why try to fix something that isn't broken?

  • Halo 2 Map Pack Delayed

    [xbox]

Remember when it was revealed that Halo 2 was going to be delayed by a whole year? Well, I have bad news for Bungie and Halo 2 fanatics: the Multiplayer Map Pack has been delayed as well. Those expecting it on June 28 and just going to have wait even longer for added online goodness. It'll now arrive a week later on July 5. (Did I scare you?)

  • PS3 NOT a Game Machine

    [ps2]

Ken Kutaragi, the father of the PlayStation, has gone on record as saying the PlayStation 3 "is not a game machine. We've never once called it a game machine." Instead, the focus of the console will be that of a home entertainment device, capable of SGI-based graphics and converging all electronic entertainment devices into one machine. Man, I have this odd feeling that I've heard all this before..

Console Game Of The Evening [Submit Yours!]

Kabuki Quantum Fighter for the NES. "What other game has your character, Colonel Scott O'Conner, transfer his conciousness into a cyber kabuki to thwart an evil virus? None, plus the developers must have had alien computers because one of the levels is in a forest temple with rivers." (submitted by yesjfif).

Okay. Show me an announcement of a delay coming from Bungie or Microsoft. Or show me a release date that was announced other than when the game actually came out.

It's really not worth an argument over, but it is such an old and unfounded misconception for it still to be believed and brought up.

I was wondering why Alec hadn't reported that MGS4 video i linked to. It pretty much says that Kojima will design it (even though iirc he said MGS3 was going to be his last) and Snake will be the main character (although raiden will be in it).
