E3 Highlights

17

There's just no keeping up with the tsunami of coverage at other sites for just one man and his dog. So, just a few links to sites with E3 content: gamespy, IGN, Gamespot, GameBiz, RPGPlanet, AnandTech, ToTheGame. I'm sure I forgot a few hundred, so feel free to post additional links in the comments.

Including the latest article about how great Full Auto is?

I have the utmost faith in Eurogamer - they've never bullshitted before. And as they write in an editorial; who knows what happens in 6 months?

As of now they feel the PS3 has the upper hand when it comes to gaming, is that so hard to acccept?

hadn't seen that article yet...just read it. pretty neat. and really, i can easily accept their opinion (heck, in all honesty, the fact that the ps3 is a more powerful machine. it's just that up until today, the praise seemed sort of one-sided.

for what it's worth, the ps3 will be my first PS purchase, as it does look mighty nice.

writing articles saying "PS3 is the REAL next generation" is just stupid though. They're not even close to final silicon or any developed games but already proclaiming it the "real" next generation infering that the 360 isn't capable of doing next gen games.

Which sounds like bullshit to me because the 360 hardware specs, developers working on games and the already revealed lineup sound awesome.

In the end both will have a good amount of quality titles but to proclaim one the only successor to next gen gaming in May 2005 is fucking stupid.

They gave J Allard a harder time over the pre-rendered controversy than they did anyone from Sony!

The only thing that happened was that they compared renders (PS3) and real-time footage (Xbox360), cos they're idiots, and then formed strong opinions based on that, without realising the idiocy of what they'd forgotten to take note of.

Have you even read the articles on the site?

So what if everything they saw was pre-rendered? It doesn't matter at all how pretty a game is if it's boring and uninspired.

After reading every article they've posted about E3 so far I'd say that there's a lot more to them than watching footage and forming opinions.

I've read every article they wrote about PS3 and about Xbox 360, without bias (if you search my post history, you'll find me defending Eurogamer at points, recently).

They compared the PS3 games to the Xbox 360 games and decided the Xbox games looked lacklustre by comparison, that was pretty much what they wrote in their "fallout of the fallout" editorial piece. I think they're pretty close minded to be saying things like "what we saw of the PS3 is the real next-gen" and "compared to the PS3, Xbox 360 looks dull", when they're comparing apples and oranges.

Ie. Renders versus in-game footage. When you can slap effects like motion blur and depth of field on your footage and have much stronger control over your camera angles (the renders), it's incredibly easy to make your stuff have a much stronger emotional impact. Eurogamer appears to have completely failed to take that into account, and that is very unprofessional and naive of them, imo.
