Late Night Consoling

It's funny how many times you guys have submitted Bionic Commando as a candidate for Console Game of the Evening. Some months ago, I went through the submissions, cleaning out the duplicates, and Bionic Commando had the most by far. I don't recall that game at all; don't think I ever played it. I found this nice site that covers the game from top to bottom. To summarize for those also in the dark, it was a Japanese game where the plot was to kill Hitler and topple his Nazi empire, but of course all that was changed when released in America. There was a sequel released for the Game Boy Color, and it did rather well with the review sites, although it still shied away from Nazism. In any case, you can stop suggesting it. ;D
  • PSP's Bus Speed Purposely Throttled?

    [psp]

Gaming blog Kotaku is reporting that they have learned through industry sources that the PSP's bus speed is actually underclocked at 111MHz in an effort to conserve battery life. However, it will be increased on a per-game basis. For instance, Gran Turismo PSP will unlock the speed and use it at a higher potential to provide the best possible performance. When you're done with the game, it will return to its "normal" speed.

  • Nintendo Teams with Broadcom for Wireless Tech

Well, it's now 100% official that Nintendo's next-gen console, currently codenamed Revolution, will include wireless connectivity. • More Xbox 360 Rumors

    [xbox]

The rumors surrounding the Xbox 360 just keep on getting more interesting. Today, both Kotaku and GameIndustry.biz mentioned that two price points is a definite for the next-gen Xbox. The difference being that the more pricier model comes with a hard drive, WebTV functionality, and backwards compatibility. According to Kotaku, "nVidia still owns patents on some of the original guts of the Xbox, so Msoft would have to pay royalties to the graphics company to use backwards compatibility. By moving this functionality to a $100 add-on, Msoft only has to pay royalties on that smaller amount of cash, instead of the full price of a new unit."

    [ds]
