Xbox 360 to be Unveiled on MTV
[xbox]Hey, who needs E3 to speak directly to the gaming press when you can just use MTV? That's exactly what Microsoft is doing by unveiling its next-gen Xbox on the "Music Television Network" a whole four days before their scheduled E3 press conference. The 30-minute show will air at 9:30pm EST on May 12 and will be hosted by Elijah Wood as well as feature performances by The Killers. Game Informer's Billy Berghammer contacted Peter Moore, a veep over at Microsoft, and squeezed this out of him: at the show, gamers will be told the name of the system, see the system and controller, and view a few quick snippits of gameplay. He also confirmed that it is a ploy to one-up Sony for already one-upping them.

Xbox 360 Controller Revealed?
[xbox]Over the weekend, pictures of the supposed next-gen Xbox controller spread like wildfire across the Internet. GamesAreFun has the pics and a lengthy write-up of why they believe the pics are real. GameSpot claimed them "Not Bogus" in their latest Rumor Control article. Also, I received a ShackMessage from a Shacker, who wished to remain anonymous, that he recently was an actor in a Microsoft Xbox commercial that featured the controller. He said, "the idea for the commercial/webcast was that the controller was 'emanating waves' and it was providing a beat to dance to or whatever."

why would MS get rid of the white and black buttons? those seem to be useful in a lot of games

Looks like the shoulders are above the triggers. I'd like it so my index fingers are on the triggers, and middle fingers on a button.
The triggers feel so good in FPS and racing games... I don't think i'll like using my middle finger to shoot if the shoulder is set to do something like jump or reload.

In my opinion, they needed relocation at the very least. The current location of both white/black and start/select on the Controller S is terrible, both are right under your knuckle and slightly recessed enough to be hard and uncomfortable to hit in a hurry.
Assuming they did indeed get reassigned to be shoulder buttons, I view it as a step up. That said, the general shape of the thing reminds me of those Logitech PC gamepads that tried and failed to emulate a Dual Shock, which I've always found unpleasant to hold... so maybe it'll just balance out. -

I agree that they should have the black and white button AND extra shoulder buttons.
As for having the standard controller be wireless... I have mixed feelings.
I don't want to buy batteries just to play my XBox. Using wireless might also compromise the strength of the rumble effect. Also, this might increase the price of extra controllers, which would suck. -
Who thinks the original release Xbox controller is better than the S controller, i personally think the S controller sucks and really don't care for the new design. I think the analogue stick placement was best on the first controller and was easily played while cradling the controller not gripping it like PS dual shock controllers. Boo new analogue stick placement!
