Million Dollar PvP Tourney
PlanetWide Games sends along this press release, announcing a skill-based Player vs. Player tournament for their MMORPG RYL: Path of the Emperor (which will be in stores later this month). The grand prize? $1,000,000. The qualifying tournament will start July 1, 2005 and will end April 30, 2006 with the final taking place at that year's E3. I'll say this, however: for $1 million dollars this is going to be the greatest example ever of Nerds Behaving Badly. It is going to get UGLY in those servers.-
$1,000,000 / $10 (to make it easy) = 100,000
100,000 / 12 = 8,333.3
so in other words they need about
8,333.3 average subscriptions for 12 months to make their million.
How many extra copies of this fame, and subscriptions do you expect they will have between July 1, 2005 and will end April 30, 2006? (my guess would be more then 9,000)
