That short view distance and pop-upping sucks. Seems like there's no progress made since the original BF...

it's interesting cause a big part of what they are trying to do is get the feel of the original BF1942 then tweak after it's safe.

I'm fine with the view distance.. if it was farther I could only imagine being sniped by people from the opposite side of the map. :(

      Not everyone has a P4 4.0gighz, that's why the view distance isn't infinite ;)

heh. i'd suppose the typical computer power a user would have would have increased since bf1942 ;)

And you'd be wrong. I built a new computer fall of 02 (P4 2.53) and I'm still running it. Though, it is time to start thinking about an upgrade...

i'm talking about the medium specs set by the developer... and it is definitely a more powerful spec than when bf was released.

No, they want to keep that as low as possible to allow the most players (ie: customers)

Oh I forgot to mention, when it comes to view distance you can't let it be a user definable option right...b/c some guy on his p3 800 may have the distance set to like 10 ft in front of him while my e-penis with his p4 4ghz may want to see 10miles! I'm sure you can guess what would happen and why it's a problem. So instead they set it to somewhere decent like 1mile (total guess)

It's an LOD issue probably, computahs can't handle the whole world drawn at once
