CS_Compound Shots

64

Restarting Steam will get you the latest news update from Valve, which shows two screenshots from the upcoming cs_compound that's being released for Counter-Strike: Source soon (some time in February). The news item also promises an update on the Half-Life 2 mapping contest soon.

In other news, the Vivendi Universal news page has word that Half-Life 2 has sold 1.7 million copies worldwide so far. Thanks GameGossip.

i find the rate of their new maps VERY slow ..
    what about de_train / de_nuke / cs_assault ?

really, all they need to do is copy them and make them nice in cs:source ...
    bleh, Valve = SLOW

Since other people made those maps they're probably copyrighted in some way right? So valve can't just copy someone elses design and make money off it etc. cs_office is probably in the public domain since the guy that made that map committed suicide long ago. The others either work at valve or gave the ok I'd bet.

So we need to find the authors and hold them at knife-point until they relinquish rights for Valve to update them?

I don't know if the author still holds the rights or if they were transfered over to valve when counter-strike went retail. Now that I think about it, valve probably does own the rights too all of the maps in 1.6 but earlier betas I don't know. I'd rather them be working on cs2 anyway, 20 brand new maps.

I don't think so. All of those maps made it into Condition Zero, which was a retail product.

Right, they must have rights to all the maps. Valve owns counterstrike after all, it's not a mod.

      Valve isn't making the maps.
