Take Two Creates 2K Games Label

Take-Two Interactive today announced that it starting another publishing label (they already have Rockstar Games and Global Star Software) called 2K Games. It will be the outlet for several internally and externally developed console and PC games, including those from Take-Two owned studios Visual Concepts, Kush Games, Indie Built, Venom Games, PopTop Software and Frog City Software. According to Take-Two, the label will publish everything "from high-profile Hollywood licenses to PC-only titles to sports titles". Close Combat: First to Fight and Stronghold 2 have moved from Global Star Software to this new label.

      It has to do with branding. When you think of 2K Games, you are thinking of the best (that Take 2 has to offer).

        Gold Star is still thought of in the same vein as ValuSoft for a lot of people.

        You're right...I'm sure some marekting muckety-mucks got paid big bucks to come up with this. Money well spent.

          Not always. Sometimes it's someone making minimum that comes up with the idea and then the muckety-muck presents it as their own. I"ve seen it happen at more than one company. (no, not me)
