Man, I can't believe the DS is selling so well without a 'killer app'. The highest rated game I've seen thus far is Mario64 DS, which is getting 8-9s all over the place. Other than that it's mediocre city.

It's not so strange. The PS2 was impossible to find months after it's release though it's best launch games were SSX and Tekken Tag Tournament - hardly mass market AAA killer apps. Final Fantasy, GT3, MGS2, GTA3, they all came much later. Go to Gamespot, hit reviews, limit the list to PS2, expand it to include All Reviews and then order by date and you'll see what I mean.

Well I do know the current lineup is encouraging me to hold off and wait to see how well the PSP launches.

Well, there might not be a killer game out, but people know they will appear and settles for the pretty good games so far. And you can always pick up the killer games for the GBA if you haven't played those yet but still buy the NDS so you can play the upcoming NDS games.
