Late Night Consoling
Hmm, I have this nagging feeling that something significant happened today. Such as the release of a much anticipated title? Oh, my god! How could I forget?! Chessmaster for the Xbox! Okay, no, but seriously, let us all consolidate our Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas discussion to this early LNC, mmkay? If you're one of the few here at the Shack that hasn't already picked up the game and are still trying to decide if it's worth the purchase, both IGN and GameSpot resoundingly approve of the game, giving the game scores of 9.9 and 9.6, respectively. 1up has gone as far as to say it's "quite possibly" the best game ever. Quite the accolades!
Halo 2 Online Coop Confirmed Confirmed to not be in the game, that is. Microsoft has officially gone on record as saying there is no inclusion of online or LAN cooperative play. However, there is support to split the screens up vertically for those with widescreen sets to create two virtual full screens. There is no official reason for the decision to not have online/LAN coop but GamerFeed speculates that the network code just can't handle it.
New Nintendo Bundle Recently announced for the European market, Nintendo is now bringing their latest bundle deal to North America. For still the standard price of $99.99, gamers can now pickup a GameCube packaged with Mario Kart: Double Dash. The deal will begin on November 14.
More Xbox Platinum Titles Looking to buy some quality Xbox titles on the cheap? Microsoft makes it more difficult to decide by adding five new titles to its Platinum lineup. Added were Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing, NFL Street, Project Gotham Racing 2, and The Simpsons: Hit & Run. Each of them now retail for $19.99.
Touching is Good That's the tagline for Nintendo's advertising campaign for its Nintendo DS. "Since childhood," says the press release, "we've been told 'please do not touch' -- don't touch that lamp, stop touching your food and don't touch anything in this store. Nintendo DS changes those rules." Nintendo has tapped MTV's Wildboyz for a spot and will feature a commercial in over 5,000 movie theaters after its November 21 launch date.
A Slimy Controller Although this is Japan-only, it definitely deserves mention. To coincide with the release of Dragon Quest VIII, Hori is releasing a special "Dragon Quest Slime Controller," which is simply a Dual Shock PS2 controller in the shell of a slime.
