I hope that isn't the final fire. Ugh.

What's wrong with the fire? I've seen worse...

They might just be bad screenshots. I played the E3 demo and talked to Red Storm people quite extensively while waiting in line for the Splinter Cell 3 demo, and from all they told me and what I saw, GR2 looked really good. Some notables that I was extremely pleased with were:

      - No more kits (Most kits in GR1 were useless, I usually only stuck to a select few).

      - Jumping. Who would have thought that an elite soldier couldn't step over a six-inch log?

      - Slightly more action-oriented. Its still Ghost Recon, but it seemed to move a tad quicker.

      - Better Live support (obviously).

      - Third-person view. You play exclusively from the third-person behind-the-shoulder view, as I understand it. Since its the behind-the-shoulder view instead of a directly-behind view, it really wasn't a problem at all. I had no problem firing/aiming.

      - The missions seemed slightly more dynamic. Remember in GR1, there were a few missions where if you didn't do things in an exact order, you were done for? It felt really restrictive to me, but in GR2, things felt more free. Of course, you would still need to do objectives in order, but now you can come up with the bright idea of doing a pre-strike in certain areas of the enemy's defense before embarking on the main objectives. That is, if you could survive getting in and out.

Jumping is stupid in games like these. Instead they should add some kind of "auto-climb" mode or something and scripted hotspots for jumps (Zelda 64-style). I can imagine it gets a bit tricky when out in the wild (not that I ever suffered from it in GR1 that I can remember), but Rainbow Six has done it right all along. Wish more games did it like that.
