AMD Copper Fabs

Word from The Register is that the AMD Dresden Fab 30 over in Germany is already up and running and producing copper based CPUs. There is no word on what kind of yield the fab is getting though, but this means that if they are getting a decent rate, we could be seeing a 1GHz AMD K7 CPU by the end of the year. A big smooch to ArsTechnica for the link.. (Err, link fixed... oops)

    Hmmm, you\'d think if they were getting good yields they\'d be talking about it rather than declining to comment. AMD\'s track record when it comes to yields is about as good as sCary\'s track record with Britney Spears.

    Of course AMD\'s stock has dropped so low with recent layoffs and losses (83 cents a share loss for q1 i think) that it probably can\'t get much lower... it just might not get all that much higher either.
