Late Night Consoling
So what is everyone picking up this month? September has a very busy release schedule and I know my wallet is going to be hurtin'. For starters, next Tuesday I'll be dropping a $100 on Fable and The Sims 2. Week after, gotta have Star Wars: Battlefront, Dance Dance Revolution Extreme, and the seductively-priced Katamari Damacy at $19.99. I don't even want to begin thinking about the rest of the year. Videogames must be one of the most expensive hobbies a person can have (aside from maybe a cocaine addiction, which could be just as bad).
Five New Titles Reach 'Greatest Hit' Status Sony revealed the five latest additions to their Greatest Hits lineup. To become a member of Sony's elite, a game must sell over 400,000 copies. The exclusive bunch, with each game now retailing for $19.99, contains ATV Offroad Fury 2, Jak II, Rise to Honor, SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs, and Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando.
Monkey Ball to Roll its Way onto PS2, Xbox SEGA is spreading simian love to Xbox and PS2 owners as retailers have confided to EuroGamer that a new Super Monkey Ball title is heading to those platforms. The game will be called Super Monkey Ball Deluxe and will contain over 300 levels from the two GameCube titles as well as 46 new levels. A new "challenge" mode is to be included that combines all three difficulty levels; however, online play is not supported at this time. A release early next year is probable.
ATI "Winding Down" on Development of Xbox 2 Graphics ATI CFO Terry Nickerson commented during a recent presentation that the company is wrapping up its graphics hardware for the Xbox 2, further fueling the rumor that Xbox 2 is on-pace for a late 2005 release. While not much else was said, ATI has been supplying Microsoft with less powerful graphic units to use in the first generation developmental kits.
Another Deception Title in the Works Japanese magazine Famitsu Weekly reports that Tecmo is currently developing a new game in the Deception series. It will be a sequel to the game released here in the United States as Kagero: Deception 2. This will be the first new Deception title since the original trio on the PSX.
Viewtiful Joe Anime Series Coming Soon? The other day, Capcom and TV Tokyo jointly held an event showing off the new Viewtiful Joe anime series. At the exhibition, producer Susumu Matsuyama commented that the companies are looking into bringing the series overseas to North America and Europe. A few bits of media of the anime can be found at Dengeki Online.
Delays, Delays, Delays Plenty of delays coming out of the woodworks today. First up is Predator: Concrete Jungle, falling back into the first quarter of 2005. Guilty Gear X2 #Reloaded will sport a much shorter delay; one week, now set for September 15. Also, to make sure no one is confused, 1up lays down the 2005 lineup for Nintendo.

Let's see... already picked up SO3 and Pikmin 2 (technically end of last month I guess), plan on grabbing Burnout 3, GGXX#Reload, Megaman X: Command Mission, Fable, Katamari Damacy, Donkey Konga, and possibly X-Men Legends, Sims 2 and Evil Genius. November is the month that is gonna MAUL me, though.
