Wow, I'm seriously impressed with those sales numbers for the Famicom Mini series. I know here on the Shack, there's been plenty of discussion about the $20 price tag and it appears most of you are in agreement that $20 is just too high of an asking price for decade-old games. It appears that Japanese gamers disagree. It could be that with their very weak economy, most gamers find it more appealing to buy these budget titles, as they have proven gameplay and can pick up a few for the price of one.

GCN GBA NDS Jam Out at the Nintendo Fusion Tour Nintendo revealed their master plan for their second annual Fusion Tour, a nationwide tour that'll feature rising artists and still in development Nintendo titles. The headliner this year will be Story Of The Year, who will test new songs not on their album. On-site will be plenty of Nintendo game kiosks, including the Nintendo DS. The first show will be in Odessa, Texas on September 20. Click the link for a full schedule.
PS2 Xbox Colin McRae 2005 to Skip PS2 In an interesting move revealed by a Codemasters representative on their site's forums, Colin McRae Rally 2005 will not be released on the PS2 in the United States nor will it ship its PC version to stores. That leaves left the Xbox version to arrive on store shelves later this year. The game will ship on all three platforms to stores later in Europe and Australia.
PS2 The Getaway: Black Monday Pushed Back to 2005 Americans are going to have to wait a little bit longer for The Getaway: Black Monday as SCEE London Studio has announced that their sequel won't hit the States until January 2005. British gamers, however, can still expect it in November. SCEE London Studio did not specify a reason for the delay.
GBA Four More Classic NES Games Game Informer received confirmation from Nintendo that four new titles are set for release in their Classic NES Series. Set for sale on October 25, the games are Dr. Mario, Metroid, Castlevania, and Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link. They will retail for $19.99. One little tip for those considering Metroid; spend the extra $10 on Metroid: Zero Mission; when you beat the game, the original Metroid is unlocked.
GBA Famicom Mini Sales Approach Three Million in Japan The Famicom Mini games, which are the Japanese version of our Classic NES games, have sold over 2.7 million copies in Japan within their six months of release and don't appear to be slowing down. Already in its third, and final, set of releases, retailers are finding it hard to keep the games in stock. It was originally planned as one-time set of games, but demand drove Nintendo to continue the series.
Xbox Sonic Mega Collection Plus Coming to Xbox Already available on the GameCube and recently announced for the PS2, Sonic Mega Collection Plus is coming to the Xbox in November of this year. Like the PS2 version, the Xbox release will sport the added non-Sonic titles. It will retail for $19.99. Click the link for the full list of games.
NDS DS in Time for Thanksgiving? Word coming out of the Ziff-Davis Electronic Games Summit is that Nintendo will have their Nintendo DS portable ready for sale prior to the big shopping day after Thanksgiving. However, third-party publishers are saying to expect a drought of their titles until the first quarter of 2005. No official confirmation has come from Nintendo other than a late 2004 release.
