Late Night Consoling
Can anything save Tomb Raider at this point? I thought Angel of Darkness would've been the final nail in the coffin but it looks like the name recognition is still paying off somehow. I kind of get the feeling that Toby Gard returning to the series will pan out much like when Nolan Bushnell returned to making games for Atari. On the other end of the spectrum, it's cool to see Starbreeze expanding its horizons. It's always nice when the little guys hit the big time.
PSP Gran Turismo to be a Port It has been revealed that the previously announced Gran Turismo title for Sony's upcoming handheld, the PSP, will indeed by a port of Gran Turismo 4. This was confirmed by series producer Kazunori Yamauchi who also commented, "The PSP is a portable game machine, and people may think it's oriented towards playing simple games, but it really has the same hardware performance as the PS2. Since we're already developing the GT4's system on the PS2 hardware, we're planning to port that directly to the PSP."
Toby Gard Rejoins Tomb Raider Team The man who created the original concept of Lara Croft, only to flee the series after its first release to spend seven years on Galleon, has joined up with Crystal Dynamics to work on the seventh installment of the Tomb Raider series. Not much else is known at this point, but it is rumored that Warren Spector will also have a hand in the game. Tomb Raider 7 is expected to ship in the summer of 2005.
Starbreeze Working on Next-Gen Title The studio that quickly rose to fame with their critically-acclaimed Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay, Starbreeze announced they are hard at work on a new game for the next-generation consoles. They have signed a letter of intent with an American publisher to have a title ready within two years. In a comment to EuroGamer.net, "In the same way we reused the Enclave engine. We will evolve it. We'll have this as a base - we can do prototypes, we can start developing the gameplay, have a really quick start with the next project."
Twilight of Lareleth With media already available, Spinning Reality formally announced a new Xbox RPG called Twilight of Lareleth. GameSpot described the game as being "set on the world of Lareleth, where elves and gnolls have battled for years, and the elves have retreated to huge floating islands in the sky." Players control one of our elven characters that can assume one of nine classes. Gameplay is estimated to last sixty hours. Interestingly, the game will support four player gameplay with split-screen action. The game is without a publisher but set for a release in 2005.
Weekly Bungie Update Finally, after two weeks of slim content due to a major crunching effort, Frankie reports in with actual content! One thing is for certain; there will be no playable Halo 2 demo any time soon and not before the game ships. Rumors were abound that August 24th would see the release of a demo, but according to Frankie, that is not true.

How you figure it isnt quite portable? .. its no bigger than the DS gimmick.
Has way more power, has a way better screen, does way cooler things, and hell if you can give me GT4 on the subway or a plane I am game.
Now I bet they will have a save feature that will be able to save info of both versions... now that would kick ass... you can progress without having to be at home.-
-
Unless Sony does something about the battery life, then it's not going to be very portable.
I, for one, like being able to take off for a week/weekend w/ my GBA and not have to worry about charging it during the trip. Something tells me the 3hr battery life of the PSP will limit it to home use only.-
-
I do, but my notebook got about 5 hours of effective use, my cell phone got about a week of stand-by time and about 10-12hours of talking. My digital cam only got perhaps 1 to 2 hours, but I don't need that one to be one more then while I'm taking pictures, so it doesn't matter.
3 hours of gaming is really the suckage.-

It's been a couple of days since I charged the phone now... Right now it says 243h of standby and 7h43m of "call time".
So fully charged I guess it might land closer to 9 then 10 hours (phone is about 2 years old as well, so I guess the battery has become slightly weaker). And no, I'm not carryying around a brick for a phone, it's roughly 4"x2"x½".-

It's a SonyEricsson T68i.
Keep in mind that I have not tried talking for this long myself, but the technical specs + the phones battery report is giving me these numbers. I know for sure that the stand-by is pretty accurate (only when it's really really low it can be off by an hour or two) and I only recharge it about once every two weeks if I don't talk very in it (like 20-30min total during that period).
It's a good cell phone IMO, got pretty much all the features I could ever need.
