Late Night Consoling
An all-Nintendo news night here at LNC! I didn't really notice that until I was done and thinking of something witty to write here. The bit about Mario Party 6 arriving in Japan sometime in November would lead us to believe that either a.) Nintendo was lying and it will use controllers or b.) a new GameCube peripheral is on the horizon. I think it's getting to be a bit late in the game to start introducing products such as, if the rumors are true, a camera device. Unless the next console will be compatible with it, Nintendo just won't have enough time to build an installed base to make it worth everyone's while.
Zelda Four Swords Confirmed for DS In an interview with Spanish Nintendo magazine Club Nintendo, the man behind the upcoming Zelda titles, Eiji Aonuma, confirmed that the Nintendo DS portable will receive a version of Zelda Four Swords Adventure. Eiji is quoted as saying, "The Zelda team is already planning Four Swords for the Nintendo DS. This game will have a lot of connectivity and feature a lot of interaction between both screens. It will be interesting."
Nintendo Avoids Japanese Media Events A company spokesperson for Nintendo confirmed that once again, Nintendo will not hold a SpaceWorld event nor will it have a booth at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show. Spokesperson Mitsuaki Hagishima commented, "So instead, we're currently planning an effective event that can be expanded to a nationwide scale." He also left open the possibility of another SpaceWorld by saying, "It's not like we won't ever open a SpaceWorld event again."
Resident Evil 4 and Metroid Prime 2 at Comic-Con Not only can comic lovers enjoy a playable version of Robotech: Invasion at this weekend's San Diego Comic-Con, they'll also get treated to Metroid Prime 2 Echoes and Resident Evil 4 in full playable glory. According to one of Planet GameCube's readers, Nintendo will have a booth there with these demos. Some other companies at the show are Activision, EA, and Konami.
Nintendo Unveils Japanese Lineup A spokesperson for Nintendo gave new details regarding the company's fall and winter lineup of games for Japan. Mildly surprising is the fact that both the new Star Fox title along with Donkey Kong Jungle Beat may be ready by the end of December. Most surprising, however, is confirmation that Mario Party 6 will come out in November. Nintendo has gone on record as saying this Mario Party will not make use of controllers. A rumored device similar to Sony's EyeToy may be the input function, but nothing is known at this point. Obviously, we should know shortly.
