Late Night Consoling
Now that summer is in full swing and we're seeing some big titles being released, I started thinking about the fall season when I suddenly realized that the Nintendo DS is, supposedly, right around the corner. While we know we won't see the PSP till 2005, Nintendo's official line is that the DS will be here in time for the holidays, leaving it only half a year before we see it; and if Nintendo were smart, they'd make sure to get it out before Thanksgiving in time for the biggest shopping day of the year. That leaves them with less than five months to get the portable on store shelves. But for a system that still has many unknowns, is that enough time? We don't know how much it costs, we don't have a release date, and really, the only software we've seen are tech demos two months ago at E3. Will Nintendo bare bones it this holiday season, delay it, or shock us with how much progress its made in private?
Advance Game Port Announced Datel, the company behind the cheat device Action Replay, has announced the Advance Game Port, a new device that allows you play Game Boy Advance games on a TV. The AGP uses your GameCube as the gateway, except instead of sitting underneath the system, it plugs straight in your memory card port. You then stick any Game Boy Advance game in and viola; you're all set. The device also functions as an Action Replay device, so all the codes are readily available. The AGP will sell for $35 and be available later this month.

Iwata Speaks Out IGN grabbed hold of a recent interview of Nintendo president Satoru Iwata conducted by the Japan Economic Foundation. A few of the highlights were that Iwata foresees less gamers sticking with consoles if there isn't a change in how things are done; thinks games shouldn't target only adults or only children; he downplayed Internet gaming, saying an online PS2 golf game did worse than an offline version; and encouraged a stronger relationship with Bandai.
Weekly Bungie (But Really Halo 2) Update The big deal this week is that the game has reached beta status and they're all having their fun with it. If you want something to hype you up about the game, check these few lines... Joe spent the entire week fixing a… [HEY! Wait Joe, I can't even TYPE what you just said to me. That is the MOST SECRET thing I ever even heard of. I ain't even typing that, I'll get my ass fired for even thinking about it too hard. -Frankie] Joe also mentioned that John Butkus got the longest and most complex animation in the game polished and looking AMAZING and more importantly, running in the game engine. And the animation DOES feature the thing that I censored Joe on, two paragraphs ago.

Yet Another GBASP Color Scheme Okay you crazy collectors, here's another for you. To celebrate the release of Bandai's Naruto RPG, being released in Japan on July 22, Nintendo will release an orange and blue GBA SP. Also on the handheld will be the hometown symbol of the game's protagonist, Uzumaki Naruto. The system will come bundled with the game and retails about $150 USD.
