Late Night Consoling
The internet is definitely abuzz about the possibility of an earlier-than-expected release of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II. Going through my nightly rounds, nearly every site has its own interpretation about what's going on. In this case, it appears that many different people have heard something, so maybe there is a little validity to this rumor. It's interesting to note that in the twin articles in EGM and CGW, Obsidian had planned to push hard through June and spend the rest of the time testing, polishing, and balancing the game out. Could one speculate now that June is halfway done, Obsidian is at a point where they feel they can get this done sooner rather than later? I had thought it would be odd for BioWare's Jade Empire to be released the same month as KOTOR2.
Nintendo's New Memory Card Causing Problems Nintendo revealed today that their recently released Memory Card 1019 appears to be causing errors with a few games. Fortunately, at this point, the causality list is small and seems to affect mostly children's games (Disney, Mary Kate and Ashley), but nonetheless errors are being discovered and Nintendo will make a formal announcement soon. Will a recall be in order?
Atari Severs Ties with Oddworld Inhabitants 1up is reporting tonight that in a recent 10-K form, a document that details a company's fiscal year, Atari has ended its investment in the developer Oddworld Inhabitants. At one point, Atari had owned 50% of the company, but has slowly been ridding itself of ownership. This comes at rough times for Oddworld Inhabitants, who are searching for a publisher for a game codenamed Stranger after Microsoft dropped it from their lineup last year.
'Four Horsemen' Rises From Its Grave When 3DO closed shop not too long ago, one title in development basically fell off the radar. It resurfaced last week when it was revealed by the game's creator Mark Mendheim that The Four Horsemen has been purchased and that development restarted early last month. Now under the hands of Four Horsemen Entertainment LLC, the game is to become an entertainment franchise, with comic books, graphic novels, and a revamped version of the game for the next-generation consoles set to be released.

Nokia Halves Release Schedule Late last year, Nokia had planned to have 50 to 100 titles available by the end of 2004, but GameSpot reports this evening that that projection has now dropped to only 40 titles, as indicated by Nokia's chief strategy officer Matti Alahuhta at the Nokia Connection 2004.
