Late Night Consoling
I know plenty of you are chomping at the bit for tomorrow to come, eagerly awaiting the arrival of Full Spectrum Warrior at your doorstep or local game store. Gaming press everywhere are calling it a "genre-bending" title that appears to be similar to so many games, yet stands out on its own as something never done before. Of course, this is thanks to the incredible attention to detail in creating a realistic environment, as this was originally commissioned by the US Army as a training simulator for light infantry in an urban setting. The focus of the game is not straight shoot 'em up, but instead the actual tactics and strategy involved in setting up a squad in the prime position to neutralize the enemy and secure the objective. Now I'll admit, I'm the kind of guy that likes to jump into games and start blowing stuff up, but I'm also a huge fan of games that make me feel totally immersed in what's going on. I believe that is why Full Spectrum Warrior has generated such interest amongst so many people. Sure, I won't be running around, tossing 'nades left and right, sniping people wherever I wish. Instead, I'll be able to enjoy the journey and feel accomplishment when I finally get to 'splode a terrorist's head. If you're still on the fence or just want to know more, here's some recommended reading care of GameInformer and IGN.

Plenty of executive changes will occur, with soon-to-be chairman and president Hajime Satomi quoted as saying, "Unfortunately, Sega has been in the red for nearly 10 years. It would tighten things up if the [board] members that had directing position and representative rights took responsibility [for Sega's downturn]." Another big move will be the merging of Sega's seven subsidiaries into a single unit. The idea is to get all of the best talent under one roof instead of spreading it thin across the seven subsidiaries. | |
