So yeah, I'm pretty sure I'll be picking up a GameCube soon. Not at all bored with my Xbox yet but I feel I'm missing out on some of the exclusive titles that the GameCube has, and since the system is only 99 bucks why the heck not.
Microsoft's 10 Year Japan Plan GameSpot is reporting about Microsoft's 10-year plan for Japan as mentioned on the Xbox Japan website. According to Microsoft executive Peter Moore the company will announce specific strategies for the country in six to nine months, with the recently announced video chat and Xbox Live Arcade apparently being examples of those plans. Right now the Xbox is selling only 200 to 300 units a week in Japan. A strategy not mentioned in that interview is that a soft porn star will be hosting a new Xbox TV show. | |
Sega News A financial report on the website of Imagination Technologies revealed that the company is licensing its new "high-end next-generation graphics technology" to Sega for new arcade systems. Imagination previously developed the PowerVR chipset. New Sega arcade boards are expected in early 2005. In other Sega news the company's AM2 division is looking for play-testers for an unannounced light-gun game (new Virtua Cop?). | |
No Rare Nintendo DS Games There had been some rumors that Rare was working on Nintendo DS games, which wouldn't be too surprising considering they continue to work on Game Boy Advance games. But Microsoft today denied that this is the case, saying in a statement that all Microsoft studios are focused on games for Windows and Xbox platforms. The statement also mentions "At this time, there are no plans to support the DS", which leaves open the possibility of it happening in the future. | |
Riddick Pre-Order Deal Vivendi has announced a pre-order program for The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. Along with the game, you'll receive a special DVD including a mini hint guide, an interactive walk-through for one of the levels, a trailer for the Chronicles of Riddick movie, background info on the Riddick character and more. Escape from Butcher Bay is due out soon. | |
Games Dated Namco today announced a more specific release date for Ace Combat 5. Previously scheduled for a Fall release, the game's website now mentions a more specific November date. Tekken 5 will be a PS2 exclusive, and the home version is scheduled for release some time in 2005. Meanwhile Sega of America announced that the Xbox version of OutRun 2 will ship October 12. | |
| New Releases This Week Xbox owners can pick up Metal Slug 3 and Thief: Deadly Shadows. On the PlayStation 2 there's Bujingai: The Forsaken City. And if you have a GBA, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Mighty Beanz, River City Ransom EX and Sonic Advance 3 are now in stores. |
