Action Replay MAX: MP3, DivX..Genesis ROMs 1UP is reporting on a new Action Replay for the PlayStation 2 being released soon, Action Replay MAX. The MAX release of the device features support for MP3, DivX movies, CD-R, and it will come with an online chat and instant messaging client as well. And oh yeah, it plays Genesis/Mega Drive ROMs too. We'll probably know soon enough if Sega is amused by this or not. The new Action Replay will be in stores by the end of the month for $24.99. | |
| Company Financials Some financial results out of Japan today as both Namco and Square-Enix announced their latest numbers. Namco did well, increasing profits by 83.3% thanks to strong arcade and console game sales (Soul Calibur II anyone?). For Square-Enix this was the first full financial year since the merger, resulting in $563.5 million in sales and a $97.2 million profit. This is actually down from when Square and Enix were seperate companies ($145 million combined profit). GameSpot's story about the Square Enix financials also has some game news, including comments on Final Fantasy XII & Xbox Live. |

Kuon, Wild Arms Alter Code: F Get U.S. Publisher Agetec today announced that it will publish Kuon, the survival horror game in development at From Software, in North America. The game takes place in ancient Japan, where the city of Kyoto is overrun with mutants and other nasty creatures. You can play as either a teenage girl looking for her dad, or as her dad who's working as an exorcist. The North American version will be released in October. The Sony RPG Wild Arms Alter Code: F will also get a North American release courtesy of Agetec, look for that in November. | |
