As most of you know we'll be at E3 next week. Any specific console titles you guys would like to read about? I'm not promising anything, but as always I'll try my best.
GoldenEye 2 Announcement Electronic Arts formally announced GoldenEye: Rogue Agent yesterday, the first person action game which will give players a chance to play as an MI6 agent turned bad. Expect to visits all kinds of familiar locations seen in the movies, along with appearances from characters like Oddjob, Scaramanga, Xenia Onatopp and Pussy Galore. There will be a singleplayer campaign along with multiplayer support, but as usual only Playstation 2 will feature online support (but that might change if rumors about an impending agreement between Microsoft and EA are true). You can find a first look at the game along with a video on GameSpot. In case you were expecting this game to have anything to do with the movie GoldenEye, no. It is named this way because your character has..a golden eye. Yeah. | |
Destroy All Humans! Announced Developing Star Wars: Battlefront, Full Spectrum Warrior and Mercenaries isn't quite enough for Pandemic Studios it seems as the company is also working on Destroy All Humans!. This third-person action game puts you in control of Cryptosprodium-137 (Crypto), an alien who is looking for DNA that can get help his race recover after cloning had bad effects on the gene pool. And where has Crypto found the perfect genetic material? That's right, Earth. THQ is publishing, the game is scheduled for an early 2005 release date. | |
More Xbox 2 Launch Rumors Microsoft Plays Video Leapfrog is a BusinessWeek (registration required) article about the launch of Xbox 2, revealing that Microsoft is planning to launch the next-gen console during the 2005 holiday season (so say their sources anyway). According to the article Sony is apparently aiming for the same launch period, but developers say the company still hasn't decided on key tech details which makes it difficult to start development on Playstation 3 games. Meanwhile Microsoft is supposedly doing everything to help developers make games for the Xbox 2, with an unnamed developer being quoted saying "We can't believe this is Microsoft". | |
Nintendo DS Support Just ahead of E3 Nintendo released a list of Nintendo DS developers & publishers, a list including names like Electronic Arts, THQ, Atari, Activision, Ubisoft, Capcom, Sega, Konami and Square Enix. According to EA's vice president Nick Earl "The Nintendo dual screen is something that we're really excited about developing for. It's very innovative, which is classic Nintendo". The device will be unveiled next week. | |
TimeSplitters 3 Details Some new details on TimeSplitters 3 hit the web today. The game is now called TimeSplitters Future Perfect, and will feature a story mode with levels sets between 1914 and 2401. Co-op support is being added to the game as well, and Playstation 2 owners will be able to deathmatch online with up to 16 people. TimeSplitters Future Perfect will be released some time in 2005. | |
Midnight Club 3 Announced Rockstar Games sent out this press release, announcing that Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition is in development. For the game Rockstar has entered into a partnership with DUB, an urban automotive lifestyles magazine. Editors of the mag will bring their knowledge of cars and customization to the game, so expect to see a lot of tricked out rides in Midnight Club 3 when it's released this holiday season. | |
Sports Games News IGN's Sports section has been updated, offering some new details on NCAA Football 2005, Madden NFL 2005 . First details on NBA Live 2005 are available as well. In other sports news ESPN Videogames announced that Terrel Owens will be on the cover of ESPN NFL 2005, while Sony's 989 Sports will will skip a season when it comes to the NFL GameDay, NCAA GameBreaker, NBA ShootOut, and NCAA Final Four franchises. The company will still release new versions of their MLB, NHL and World Tour Soccer game series. | |
Viewtiful Joe 2 Q&A There's a very brief Viewtiful Joe 2 Q&A on IGN this evening. Capcom producer Atsushi Inaba is asked about gameplay differences between the original game and the sequel, the different enviroments, use of vehicles, improved graphics and the storyline among a few other things. | |
GBA Goes Wireless GameSpot is reporting that Majesco will bring wireless link and wireless instant messaging to the Game Boy Advance. No specific details were announced, but the products will be on display at E3 next week so expect to hear more soon. | |
