Late Night Consoling
Judging from the comments I've seen posted here over the last week or so, it would seem that many of you have gotten your hands on the Ninja Gaiden demo CD that's included with this month's issue of the Official Xbox Magazine. I, I'm sorry to report, have not received mine yet. Which sucks, because I'm dying to know how this game plays. It seems like some of you are very much taken with it, while others are less-than-impressed. If you're interested in finding out for yourself, it should be in stores by now, and hopefully I'll get mine this week. The suspense is killing me.
Final Fantasy May Cry? The current rumor du jour making the rounds (see The Magic Box and GamerFeed) is that Square is working on a PS2 action game that's similar to Devil May Cry, only starring Cloud from Final Fantasy VII. This could either be true, and tie into the upcoming Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children movie, or complete nonsense, the kind of thing fanboys love to come up with every day. I'll leave it up to you to decide.
Star Ocean 3, Front Mission 4 This Summer More news for Square fans: Square Enix announced today plans to release both Star Ocean: Till the End of Time and Front Mission 4 here in the US this summer. As you would expect, the version of Star Ocean 3 we'll be getting is indeed the "Director's Cut" that was released in Japan following a buggy initial release of the game.
Puyo Pop Fever Coming to US Sega of America has announced plans to release Puyo Pop Fever in North America this June. But here's the interesting part: it's only the GameCube and Xbox versions of the game that are coming out over here. While nobody's surprised at the fact that the Dreamcast version isn't going to be released in this country, the lack of a PS2 port does seem a bit odd. I'd guess that it's SCEA's approval process that's killed off yet another primarily 2D game.
Catwoman Revealed GameSpot has posted the first screenshots from Catwoman, the Argonaut-developed title based on the upcoming movie starring Halle Berry. It certainly looks like your average third person title, but I'm sorry, but I can't take this costume even remotely seriously. She looks like Minnie Mouse!
Nokia Admits N-Gage Sales Slow They're still targeting that 2 million units sold mark for the 2005 holiday season, but nonetheless, Nokia CEO Jorma Ollila finally at least conceded that sales have been less-than-spectacular. I still think that if Nokia fixed all the problems with the device (as they're rumored to be doing) they could scrounge up some decent sales in this industry. But until then I simply cannot see the N-Gage 1.0 taking off in any real capacity.
The Suffering Goes Gold Midway and Surreal Software announced today that their survival horror title The Suffering has gone gold and will ship to retailers on March 8th. I very rarely bother to post "gone gold" stories here, but hey, it's a particularly slow night.
Llamasoft History Llamasoft founder (and sole employee) Jeff Minter has written a history of his "company", the first installment of which is online at Way of the Rodent (thanks insert credit). This first chapter covers the early years, so there's nothing here about Llamatron or Tempest 2000 (to say nothing of Unity, Minter's current GameCube project for Lionhead) but it's still an entertaining read if you're a disciple of the Llama.
