Late Night Consoling

0

Tomorrow being New Year's Eve, it's safe to assume there won't be an LNC. As for a New Year's Day edition, that, like every other one during these holiday weeks, depends entirely on how much news I can scrounge up. So far it looks like there's been at least one or two semi-noteworthy stories each night, so hopefully I'll be able to get at least that on Thursday and Friday. But if not, Happy New Year's!
Sony Sony Interview The official UK PlayStation site has posted a brief interview with Chris Deering, the newly crowned president of Sony Europe. Chris touches on a number of things, including the PSX ubersystem and the upcoming PSP, which he says the target date for is November 2004 worldwide. Admittedly we already knew that, but hey, it's a slow night. Thanks Slashdot Games for the tip.
PS2 Ratchet & Clank 2 Interview 1UP, fully exploiting their ties to various Ziff Davis publications, has reprinted an interview with Ted Price, the president of Insomniac Games. The interview originally ran in EGM, and is a post-mortem of sorts for the recently released Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, with Price talking about what he liked and disliked with the game.
GameCube PS2 Xbox Buy Prince of Persia, Get Splinter Cell Here's a cool post-holiday promotion...Ubisoft announced today that during the month of January, "all major retailers" will be giving away free copies of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell with the purchase of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. The platforms will need to be identical of course, so if you buy the Xbox version of one, you'll get the Xbox version of the other and so on.
  Misc. Media/Previews
PS2 Xbox GameBoy Advance The Magic Box has new shots from Dragon Ball Z: Muku Tougeki (GBA), CVG has new shots from Firefighter FD18 (PS2) and 1UP has new shots from the Xbox port of Mafia.
Console Game of the Evening: Goldeneye for the Nintendo 64. "One of the first (and best in my opinion) console FPS's. It's one of those games I can still pick up today and enjoy." (submitted by opengl128).
