Sunday Afternoon ShackReviews

¡Aye caramba! It's time for an update to the ShackReviews database! This week we've got six new games, including the long-awaited full sequel to Homeworld, the latest game in the Jedi Knight series and would you believe a Simpsons version of Grand Theft Auto? As usual, if there's a game you want to review but don't see in the database, check first and then submit it! (And don't blame me if a game you never submitted isn't added!)

My gaming for the past week has been divided largely between Ys Book I & II for the Turbo Duo/Turbo CD and Soul Calibur II (with a few trips into Sonic CD for good measure). I posted my review of Soul Calibur II yesterday, and I imagine there are going to be some people who think I was being too hard on the game, but I stand behind my statement that the game, while very, very good, just doesn't try hard enough to move beyond its predecessor. Compare this with Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution, which is a huge step up from VF3, and you could even make the argument that it's a larger step up from VF4 than Soul Calibur II is from the original Soul Calibur (although I don't totally agree with that). But of course, that doesn't mean I don't love SC2, because I do. In fact, I think I'll go play it right now.
