Late Night Consoling

58
Oh boy...IGN has posted their Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic review, and as expected, it's overwhelmingly positive, with an overall grade of 9.5. So I guess I've got another game to pick up and throw on my stack. I'm so weak.On a different note, I polished off WarioWare last week, and while I can heartily recommend it to anyone else, I'm not sure I agree with some about its replay value. While there certainly is always the ability to go back and beat my score, I really don't have that urge. I'll probably sell this back when I go to pick up KOTOR this weekend.

Shenmue III Confirmed?
According to GamerFeed, Sega confirmed today that work is underway on Shenmue III, and more information will be revealed in September. No platform is named, although since the series has already hopped one platform, one would hope it's going to stay on the Xbox for another round. What's unknown at this point is what this means for the Virtua Fighter RPG for GameCube, which was a curious project from the start, since that's exactly what Shenmue originally started as back in the Project Berkeley days.
Xbox Halo Sells a Crapload
Microsoft announced today that Halo (which is still the best game available for Xbox, IMHO -- although I haven't played KOTOR yet) has sold an impressive 3 million copies since its debut. Now if only Microsoft would drop the price like every other best-selling Xbox game (with sales still this strong, I wouldn't hold my breath).
GameBoy Advance A Really Ugly GBA SP
As part of their gala 20th Anniversary celebration, Nintendo of Japan has announced a new limited edition GBA SP that will be given away as part of a contest over there. The GBA shares the same hideous color configuration as Nintendo's first console, making it really, really ugly indeed.

Prince of Persia Interview, Previews
A new Prince of Persia interview is up at IGN tonight, talking with Alex Drouin, the man behind the incredible animation in the game. It's an interesting interview, if only because the animation in this game is so good that I really want to know more about how it was done. On a related note, both IGN and GameSpot have new hands-on looks at the game.

More Sega Ages Revealed
The Magic Box has the first screenshots from the remakes of Space Harrier and Golden Axe, which are the fourth and fifth games in the Sega Ages lineup. Also GamePro has some gameplay details from the games, which like the first three have not been announced for a North American release.

GameCube F-Zero "Ghost" Support
Games Are Fun is reporting (by way of Famitsu) that Sega and Nintendo's upcoming racer F-Zero GX will support "ghost" save files, allowing you to record your race on to a memory card and exchange them with others. I never quite understood the attraction of this (if you're already there, why not just play live?) but hey, if you like it go nuts.
GameCube Nintendo's New System Codename
I mentioned the codename "Xenon" which is supposedly Microsoft's name for their next console system, so I guess I have to mention this...according to SPOnG.com, Nintendo's new system is code named "N5" as I guess this is Nintendo's fifth home system.

ESPionage Bumped to 2004
According to GameSpot, Midway confirmed today that ESPionage, their psychic stealth action game, has been pushed into 2004. To tide you over until then, they also posted a new trailer from the game.

Misc. Media/Previews
GameSpot has hands on looks at Roadkill, NARC, NFL Blitz Pro and Midway Arcade Treasures (all GC, PS2 and Xbox), plus new trailers from Roadkill, NBA Ballers and NFL Blitz Pro. Also at GameSpot is a look at Pitfall Harry (GC, PS2, Xbox), a new trailer from Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (GC, PS2, Xbox) and new shots from Killer 7 (GC). IGN has new footage from Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike, an NBA Ballers interview along with a hands-on preview of Dungeons & Dragons Heroes (Xbox). Elsewhere online, Games Are Fun has a Japanese commercial for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (GC), The Magic Box has shots from Tales of Symphonia (GC) and Computer and Video Games has new shots from Namco's really strange first person brawler Breakdown (Xbox).

Console Game of the Evening: Yoshi's Island for the Super Nintendo. "Not only was this an extremely fun platformer with excellent level design and replayability, but it is groundbreaking for its unique visual style and presentation. Miyamoto's "hand-drawn" look was executed perfectly." (submitted by XstatiK).

Does anybody know if KOTOR supports 480p or widescreen TVs?

480p is pretty much a given. No idea about widescreen though.

I'm worried because I don't see 480p listed on the back of the box ( http://www.ebgames.com/ebx_assets/product_backs/220997_back.jpg ), but it could be a mock-up.

Heh, I clicked on the link at ebgames.com and it opened in such a miniscule window that you couldn't even see the whole width of the box at once. I didn't think to scroll right. :)

I don't see "480p" listed on any of my XBox games, but they all support it.

Close, but not quite. There are a few (such as 007: Agent Under Fire, Hitman 2, The Thing, and Kung-Fu Chaos) that don't.
