ATI's RV350 Out Sooner
If The Inquirer is to be believed (well, they are getting this info from Digitimes), ATI's new RV350 chipset will be out even sooner than first though. Instead of a June ship date, ATI is now eyeing a late April release. NVidia's new part, the NV35, is not expected to be announced until May. Thanks pimpium.

It's hard to see this as a good or a bad thing. On one hand the ATI card will be out sooner and they will get a lot more sales. On the other hand, the NV35 will come out and probably be a lot faster than this card, leaving ATI with a little more time to work on their next chipset, but unable released soon enough to win the Doom3 round.

Both cards will be equally good. I hope the NV35 will have better antialiasing quality than before, on par with ATI's. But I wonder howmany slots the NV35 will take (and what kind of cooler). I take it that Nvidia won't make the same mistakes twice. Bottom line: both cards will be good, doom III will run even better now, at high reso perhaps. Let the battle continue.
Ps. ID software should do a remake of 'exile'. (I won't stop saying this, until it's being done).-

Who really cares about the large cooler/2 slot graphics card. Were you actually using PCI slot 1 for something? If so with the way most motherboards today are being designed then you were slowing your unit down.
I'm not a nvidia fanboy, I actually dont like their vid cards. Don't like ATI very much either.
Just making a point that none of us were using that PCI slot anyway.-

Well, the 9500 / 9500 Pro has actually gotten slightly -more- expensive since it was launched, and that was several months ago.. with no sign of a price drop in sight. Only when cards come out in the same price range with better performance will prices drop. From the looks of it, the NV30 based budget solutions don't seem to be offering much in terms of competition for this to happen.
